Winter Weather Updates
AAA works hard to serve our members during winter weather events.
AAA is working hard to serve our members during the current weather event in impacted areas. Be advised that AAA roadside technicians may have limited access to member vehicles due to unplowed streets, poor visibility, and unsafe driving conditions.
AAA vehicles are unable to respond to areas in a driving ban. For other areas, vehicles must be accessible - roads, driveways, and cars must be cleared of snow.
Please dial 911 for assistance if you are:
- In an area with a driving ban
- Stranded on the roadside
- Unsafe or in an emergency situation
Call Priority
- Members who are on roadways will receive priority service over those who are at home and/or in a safe location
- Members should be notified via text (where available) when the Technician is on the way to their location

Road Conditions and Closures
Please visit 511ny.org for the most up-to-date road conditions and closures.
WHEN WINTER WEATHER BECOMES SEVERE, AAA EXPERIENCES EXTREMELY HIGH CALL VOLUME. SOMETIMES, IN HARSH CONDITIONS, EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE RESPONSE IS DELAYED EVEN WITH AAA CREWS WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK. WE MAY NEED TO PRIORITIZE CALLS IN AN EFFORT TO ASSIST MEMBERS WHO ARE IN DANGEROUS ROADSIDE CONDITIONS. IF YOU ARE AT HOME, OR IN A SAFE LOCATION DURING A STORM, WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE AS WE TRY TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THOSE ON THE ROAD FIRST. IF YOU ARE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, CALL 911.
We may be unable to provide service in areas that are under travel bans. Please abide by travel restrictions and refer to your town or county website for further information or go to 511ny.org for the latest weather and road conditions.
Request emergency road service online at AAA.com/RoadService, by using our AAA mobile app, or by calling 1-800-AAA-HELP. Again, call 911 if you are in an emergency.
Please drive safely amid winter weather conditions - increase your following distance, give yourself plenty of extra time, and be prepared with a winter driving kit. If you haven't done so already, make sure your car is ready for winter by following AAA's checklist.
Extreme cold temperatures cause many car batteries to fail. Never wait until the last minute to make sure your car starts. Visit AAA.com/Battery to learn about our Mobile Battery Service.
Remember, if you don't have to drive when winter conditions worsen, it's best to stay in a safe location.
