As a senior service member representative and a AAA member herself, Kelly Rathbun always encourages members to try out the mobile app.

“I use it for everything from the discounts and benefits, to finding restaurants and hotels when I’m traveling, to comparing prices at all the local gas stations,” she said. The app also stores a digital copy of your AAA Membership card for easy access.

The app came in handy when her car broke down this summer.

“I was driving home on a major highway when my car overheated,” Rathbun said. “I couldn’t go anywhere except pull over to the side of the road. I started to panic, but I thought to myself ‘What do I always tell my members? Stay calm and pull up the app on your phone.’”

Using the AAA Mobile app, Rathbun filled out the information about her vehicle and what the problem was, and an Emergency Roadside Service Technician was sent her GPS location. Rathbun called a friend for a ride home and left her keys with the tow truck technician.

“Easy-peasy, and I was home within 45 minutes and ready with plenty of time before work,” she said.

Overall, the mobile app is a great resource to take with you, and it fits in the palm of your hand, said Drew Ellis, an insurance customer service sales representative.

“I like the way the app works – it’s easy. If you plan trips or need a map, it’s very useful,” he said. “I use it exclusively for trip planning. What’s great about the app is that you can use the tour books and find out where hotels are and what there is to do in the area you’re visiting.”

Danielle Simpson, a quality specialist with AAA Western and Central New York, used the app to plan her vacation this fall.

“My husband is always coming up with ideas for fun trips to take,” she said. “I mentioned going to Salem, Mass., for Halloween because I really wanted to see what it’s like.”

Using her phone, Simpson was able to book her hotel stay and browse the top destinations and attractions in Salem.

“I think the app is a really great tool because you don’t have to do anything other than open your phone to find what you need,” she said.
