Elizabeth Carey Named Chair of National AAA Committee
AAA Western and Central New York is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Carey has been named Chair of the Issues Subcommittee for the AAA national office. Elizabeth is the Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at AAA Western and Central New York where she has worked for nearly eight years.
The Issues Subcommittee assists the AAA Public Affairs Committee by providing ongoing, strategic guidance and recommendations concerning AAA’s strategic advocacy initiatives and public policy issues of key interest and importance to AAA.
The committees regularly evaluate safety, mobility, and consumer issues and identify key programs and initiatives for AAA to support as a national advocate for motoring and traffic safety. The issues that the committees identify determine AAA’s federation-wide engagement and collaboration.
“I’m thrilled to be named Chair of the Issues Subcommittee for AAA,” Carey said. “While I’ve served on the committee for several years, being named chair is an honor. I look forward to working with other AAA clubs to make a difference across the country.”
AAA’s national office relies on senior executives from AAA clubs to collaborate on committees and play a key role in developing association solutions and strategic plan priorities. Elizabeth has been a member of the Issues Subcommittee since 2018 and was named Chair for a two-year term.
“We are proud of Elizabeth as she has earned this appointment to Committee Chair,” said Tony Spada, President and CEO of AAA Western and Central New York. “She has a true passion for traffic safety, and we applaud her efforts to protect motorists and pedestrians.”
Locally, Elizabeth also sits on the Board of Directors for the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, and she’s a past board member of Buffalo Broadcasters Association. She also volunteers with Fantastic Friends of WNY.
As Director of Public Relations, Elizabeth appears on news programs on a regular basis in the Buffalo area and she manages AAA’s public affairs efforts across Western and Central New York. She’s also co-host of the podcast, Talking AAA.
When she’s not busy at work, you’ll find her spending time and traveling with her husband and two daughters.
