Medicare beneficiaries are facing significant changes in 2025 due to the Inflation Reduction Act. While many of these changes are positive, like the reduced prescription drug cap, they also add a layer of complexity to choosing the right Medicare plan. That's why AAA is offering free Medicare plan reviews to help beneficiaries understand their options.

Understanding the key changes

One of the most significant changes is the reduction of the Medicare Part D prescription drug cap. In 2025, this cap will be reduced to $2,000, which will result in lower out-of-pocket costs for many beneficiaries. Another notable change is the elimination of the Part D "donut hole," or coverage gap. While this will likely lower overall drug costs, it could also lead to higher monthly costs for some. These changes are causing many insurance carriers to change their plan offerings for 2025.

Why a review is essential

With all these changes happening, it's more important than ever for Medicare beneficiaries to review their coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which runs from Oc. 15 to Dec. 7. AEP is the time to compare plans and ensure you have the coverage you need at a price you can afford.
