When you think of New York and waterfalls, Niagara Falls likely comes to mind. While Niagara Falls is a stunning natural wonder, did you know that New York State boasts over 2,000 waterfalls? Follow along as we embark on a waterfall road trip to Letchworth State Park and Stony Brook State Park.

Letchworth State Park encompasses over 14,000 acres, with the Genesee River running through it. The park is home to three waterfalls and numerous scenic viewpoints, providing many opportunities for exploration.

Our first stop was at the Upper Falls, where the Genesee Arch Bridge serves as a dramatic backdrop. We then ventured to the Middle Falls, where the river cascades over a 107-foot high bluff. These falls are illuminated in the evenings from May through October, creating a spectacular sight. Our visit also included a trip to the William Pryor Letchworth Museum, which houses local artifacts and offers insights into the park's history.

We stopped by the Glen Iris in Letchworth, William Pryor Letchworth's former country estate that has been welcoming guests for dining since 1914. The historic charm of this place offers a unique dining experience.

With more on our agenda for the day, we departed Letchworth really only scratching the surface of everything it has to offer. 
 

Stony Brook State Park

After bidding farewell to Letchworth, our journey continued to Stony Brook State Park, just over 20 minutes away. Although smaller in size than Letchworth, Stony Brook is equally charming, offering visitors a chance for up-close encounters with nature. The park's trails, while moderately difficult, provide a serene and relaxing experience.

Stony Brook, with its three waterfalls spread over 600 acres of natural beauty, is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Camping facilities, as well as sports and recreational activities, are available. The park even boasts a fantastic playground that kids will love. It's the perfect place to connect with nature and unwind.

Charming downtown Dansville

As the sun began to set, we headed to Danville for a quick bite to eat. We enjoyed pizza at Tony's Pizzeria, a friendly establishment that is part of the "Fairy Doors of Danville" unique trail. Local businesses host tiny fairy doors, adding a touch of magic to your visit.
