Truck Team: Meet the AAA Fleet
AAA members understand the importance of staying prepared for the unanticipated, and so do AAA emergency roadside technicians. They are called upon 24 hours a day for towing, servicing car batteries, flat tires, and more.
With so many roadside services available, AAA relies on a range of emergency vehicles in its fleet. Check out AAA’s specialized fleet and the unique features each vehicle offers.
Ranger LS
The newest addition to AAA’s fleet is the Ford Ranger LS (light service). This isn’t your average pickup truck — AAA’s new Ford Ranger LS has the capacity to tow certain vehicles.
Do you live in an area where the houses are seemingly on top of each other? Bad news: The typical super-duty flatbeds aren’t getting in your backyard garage. That will be far less of an issue for the leaner Ford Ranger LS.
The truck’s mechanical rapid deployment trailer activates at the press of a button, giving AAA technicians the new ability to tow with a light service vehicle.
The highly configurable Ford Ranger LS includes space for the driver and potentially four passengers thanks to a storage system that keeps tools and up to 20 car batteries in the truck bed.
AAA Western and Central New York is the only AAA Club in the country offering the Ford Ranger LS for roadside assistance.
Service Vehicle
Service vehicles are equipped to perform lockout service, address battery-related concerns, and provide tire service.
Because they do not need to tow disabled vehicles, service vehicles can be stocked with replacement batteries for our roadside battery replacement program.
Flatbed
Flatbeds are the most common type of tow vehicle that we have in our fleet. With the increasing number of all-wheel drive vehicles on the road today, flatbeds are the safest way to transport these vehicles.
Wheel Lift
A wheel lift truck is the modern version of the old boom tow truck that you might be familiar with. It can lift the front or rear wheels of a vehicle to transport it if it's disabled.
Wheel lift trucks feature a boom and winches for recovering vehicles that have left the surface of the road.
