AAA takes pride in being there for our members when they need us the most. That core concept took on new meaning during the coronavirus pandemic that hit the U.S. earlier this year. AAA emergency road service is designated as an essential service, which means our drivers are always working 24/7/365 to assist members with their disabled vehicles.
AAA drivers found themselves rescuing other essential workers on the road, such as doctors, nurses and police officers, while following additional safety protocols during the pandemic. And they assisted many motorists who experienced a breakdown on a critical trip to the grocery store or pharmacy. AAA’s Mobile Battery Service was also there for members at home, practicing social distancing, who found out they had a dead car battery after going days without driving.

A. Often times, no – we can provide free battery testing right in your driveway in most areas.
First off, when you contact AAA for emergency roadside assistance, please have photo identification with you when the driver arrives. Our road service technicians will ask for photo identification to verify membership at the roadside. This is part of an effort to keep you and your membership safe and secure.
Things to know regarding AAA emergency roadside assistance:
- Your membership covers the person, not the vehicle.
- The member is covered in any eligible vehicle they ride in (including Uber, Lyft or a friend’s vehicle). » Road service requests can be placed one of three ways: on AAA.com, through the AAA Mobile App or by calling 1-800-222-4357.
- All levels of coverage allow one tow per breakdown.
- When safety allows, the member should always stay with the vehicle when contacting AAA and then until the driver arrives.
- We have Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities that we can recommend if we cannot repair your car on site, and members receive additional benefits. Find a facility at AAA.com/AAR.
- Prior to placing your road service request, always have an approximate understanding of where you are located so service can be rendered in a timely fashion.
- We tow bicycles! If your bicycle becomes inoperable, we’ll take you and your bicycle to the location of your choice according to the regular automotive towing distance included with your membership.
- We can replace your battery while you wait on the side of the road and get you going again ASAP.

Answers to Common Membership Questions:
» Basic membership is the least expensive, and it includes 5 miles of towing. Most people have a longer everyday commute, though, so upgrade today before a breakdown occurs. That way, you’ll be covered for towing for up to 100 miles or more.
» Associates who live in the same household can be added at a discount, and college students living away from home can be added at any time.
» Premier members receive home lockout reimbursement as an added benefit, as well as 200 miles of towing and trip interruption coverage.
