Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.58, up three cents since last week. One year ago, the price was $2.27. The New York State average is $2.70 – up one cent from last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.63. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

  • Batavia - $2.66 (up one cent since last week)
  • Buffalo - $2.65 (up five cents since last week)
  • Ithaca - $2.66 (no change since last week)
  • Rochester - $2.70 (up five cents since last week)
  • Rome - $2.65 (up one cent since last week)
  • Syracuse - $2.60 (no change since last week)
  • Watertown - $2.68 (no change since last week)

Increased demand for gasoline with holiday travel did drive gas prices up slightly this week, but prices remain relatively stable. Oil prices are up as well which directly impacts gas prices. Crude oil supplies are down more than expected. Pump price savings, albeit it small, are still expected to come to New York State in early 2020.
