AAA has found that a rewarding career as a driving instructor is an ideal post-retirement career option. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the older workforce is one of the fastest growing employment sectors. No longer are workers retiring at age 65 never to work again – instead they are looking for fulfilling opportunities. The BLS research shows that people seeking work (known as labor force participation rate) is expected to increase fastest for the oldest segments of the population—most notably, people ages 65 to 74 and 75 and older—through 2024.
AAA driving instructors say they enjoy paid training, instructing young drivers to be safe on the road, and career benefits with AAA.
Driving instructors start at $15/hour. Five-hour course instructors start at $125 per class. AAA benefits for full-time employees include: health, dental and life insurance; competitive PTO package; 401K with match after six months; free AAA membership and tuition reimbursement.
