COVID-19 Travel Updates
COVID-19 Travel Updates
With information changing rapidly, AAA Western and Central New York is working to keep members and the public informed amid the ongoing pandemic. Here are a few key travel updates as of Thursday, April 9th.
Now is the time to use future travel credits that travelers may have from postponing trips.
Here’s AAA’s advice:
- It’s certainly better to use them now by booking your trip for late summer, fall or early 2021 - with pent up demand for travel, you’ll want to make sure you get the best availability for dates and accommodations.
- Getting that trip on the calendar now also means you can rest easy knowing your vacation plans are set!
- If you have gained bonus credits, ask your travel consultant if you can apply them to an upgrade, such as a balcony cabin on a cruise or a waterfront room at a hotel.
We’ve seen a shift from cancellations and postponing trips to vendors promoting future travel.
Here are some current offers:
- Pleasant Holidays: Hawaii specialists - Rebook a vacation 1 – 30 days after cancelling a previously scheduled vacation and receive $250 OFF your new vacation – travel by the end of 2020
- Holland America: Cancel for any reason and receive a future cruise credit. Book by 4/30/20
- Princess: Receive up to 40% off to Alaska, the Mediterranean, and more. Book by 4/30/20
- River Cruise - Amawaterways: up to $2,000 savings per stateroom. Book by 6/30/2020
With information changing rapidly and, in an effort, to keep the public informed, AAA will share the latest information with radio host Roger Christian each weekday morning on WECK Buffalo. These segments run at 8:35 a.m. with an earlier segment on Thursdays at 8:15 a.m.
Please note that there may be more cancellations and suspensions since this was published as the situation continues to evolve quickly. Concerned travelers should always reach out to their travel consultant for the latest information. When AAA Western and Central New York receives notifications, the travel department immediately pulls a list of all travelers on that itinerary and proactively reaches out to them to assist with their travel needs.
AAA is here for travelers before, during and after their trip and throughout this pandemic.
