AAA Passes the True Road Test
Is your teen ready to learn how to drive? When it comes to training a young driver on the rules of the road, AAA has you and your family covered.
100 Deadliest Days
A 16th birthday may be unsettling for some parents, as teenagers are anxious to get behind the wheel. And it doesn’t help that we’ve entered the 100 Deadliest Days for Teen Drivers – the period from Memorial Day to Labor Day when teen crashes increase dramatically.
Looking at crashes involving teens over a 10-year period in New York State, 222 people were killed during summer months compared to 382 killed during non-summer months. This is an increase of more than 70%.
Expert Training
Sometimes, teens don’t listen to parental advice. That’s where AAA driving instructors can help. “Our driving instructors make a big impact on teen drivers as an outside source of knowledge and training,” explained Mike Formanowicz, manager of driver programs at AAA Western and Central New York. “And we have a proven track record.”
When comparing AAA students’ road test pass/fail rate with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, our students fare well! In the period from 2019 to 2020, the average rate of success was 70% versus the state-wide average of 59%. “Our programs, led by experienced instructors, are designed for success,” Formanowicz said.
Variety of Options
Teen drivers can choose from a variety of services:
-
The required 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
-
In-car instruction
-
AAA’s License to Learn Program
-
Defensive Driving (classroom or online), which qualifies the driver for an insurance discount.
