AAA debuts new tire fixing technology
AAA is expecting a record number of travelers to hit the road for the year-end holidays, and road trippers are urged to prepare in advance. Each year, AAA reminds drivers to have their car looked over by a certified mechanic to ensure it’s road trip ready and to pack an emergency kit in the car.
New this year, AAA is recommending an added safeguard for drivers to keep in their vehicles, AAA TireJECT Inflator Kits. This tool offers advanced, instant tire repair technology that is easy-to-use by all drivers when the tire sensor light comes on and they’re experiencing low tire pressure issues from punctures or slow bead leaks.
“AAA technicians have come to rely on TireJECT as a reliable and effective tool to repair most flat tires on the roadside,” explained Jim Nixon, Vice President of Automotive Services at AAA Western and Central New York. “It is so convenient that we are now recommending that all drivers add TireJECT to their emergency roadside kit for added peace of mind.”
TireJECT can be used for many tire problems including a slow leak, a puncture from a nail or other object (less than ¼”), or a leak in the bead seal. Installed through the valve stem, TireJECT’s FAStec technology finds the leak, fiber repairs the leak, and then the liquid rubber bonds from the inside sealing common leaks from within, then TireJECT’s inflator offers powerful, commercial grade inflation.
“This simple process fixes the low pressure issue in just minutes and gets drivers moving again while extending the life of the tire, and avoiding costly tire replacement,” said Michael Sorrento, Executive Partner from TireJECT. “It is chemically designed to only bond to rubber and won’t disrupt wheel balance or tire sensors.”
“I was so curious to see how TireJECT worked, that I literally punctured my own tire with a nail,” explained Nixon. “I was truly surprised and pleased with how well it worked. AAA is always available 24/7/365 to assist with flat tires, but having TireJECT on hand offers added security especially if drivers are traveling in remote areas.”
In rare circumstances where TireJECT wouldn’t work, such as a slash to a sidewall, AAA technicians utilize spare tires or tow vehicles, Nixon said, noting that flat tires are one of the most common ERS requests at AAA. In fact, AAA Western and Central New York has received more than 36,000 requests for assistance with flat tires so far this year.
AAA TireJECT Inflator Kits are typically sold for $199.99, but AAA members can purchase them online for $149.99 (plus shipping fees) here. The kits should be available at AAA Travel Stores this week in time for holiday shopping.
TireJECT is a local, family-owned company that was founded more than a decade ago in Penn Yan, N.Y. Along with TireJECT, AAA recommends that drivers pack a cell phone charger, basic tools, flashlight, jumper cables, warm clothes, blankets, snacks, and water in their emergency kit.
