Today’s national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.13, which is three cents higher than a week ago. One year ago, the price was $2.66. In its ongoing commitment to helping AAA Members prevent, prepare for and recover from life’s uncertainties, AAA Western and Central New York announced $37 million in additional refunds to auto policyholders – complementing the approximately $100 million in refunds announced in April. The announcement represents a 10% premium refund for an additional 46 days, through June 30. Read more
AAA announced a 2020 Volvo luxury sedan has earned the top score in its first edition of the newly released AAA Car Guide, a consumer resource on the latest and greatest in vehicle technology. The guide provides consumers with reviews based in part on how many advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are included in the vehicle as well as a number of other criteria. Read more
AAA Western and Central New York is celebrating an anniversary this month. 120 years ago, in the year 1900, Automobile Clubs of Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse were founded by motoring enthusiasts. As AAA Travel & Insurance Centers reopen, some clear travel trends are emerging. Three AAA locations (DeWitt, Greece and Amherst) opened in early June and two more offices (Orchard Park and Penfield) are slated to open next week. Read more

The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety’s latest research finds drivers who have been in at least one crash in the past two years are significantly more likely to engage in risky behaviors like speeding or texting, even when they think the police may catch them. After three months of staying at home, AAA urges drivers to keep everyone safe on the roads and warns motorists against falling back into dangerous driving habits. Read more

In New York State, 222 people were killed in crashes involving teen drivers during the “100 Deadliest Days” from 2008 to 2018. The “100 Deadliest Days” is the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when fatal teen crashes increase dramatically. Read more
After dropping to a low of $1.76 in April, the national gas price average is pennies away from hitting the $2/gallon mark. Today’s average is $1.96, which is eight cents higher than a week ago, 19 cents more than last month, but still a significant 87 cents cheaper than the end of May 2019. Read more
For the first time in 20 years, AAA has not issued a Memorial Day travel forecast due to the COVID-19 pandemic – 2020 will likely set a record low for Memorial Day travel, which is considered the unofficial start to summer. Normally, at this time of year – we are gearing up for a busy holiday weekend followed by a bustling summer travel season. In 2019, AAA’s report showed that nearly 43 million Americans traveled 50 miles for Memorial Day. While this year will be different, new travel trends are emerging. Read more

With Memorial Day weekend upon us, many bikers will choose to ride free on the open road amid summer like temperatures.
