An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a valuable form of identification should you need to communicate with foreign authorities - even if you are not planning to drive.

Obtain an IDP at any AAA Branch. Bring a valid U.S. driver license, $20 and two passport-size photos, which are 2 inches x 2 inches, with a white background. We can also take photos for you at a nominal charge.

You may also download the IDP application and mail it along with a photocopy of a valid U.S. driver's license (must copy BOTH sides), $20 (No cash! Make check payable to "AAA Western and Central New York") and two passport-size photos, which are 2 inches x 2 inches, with a white background. The omission of any required information will delay processing.

Note:

  • AAA reserves the right to restrict the number of IDP/IADP’s completed at one time due to business demands.
  • Up to 5 IDP/IADP’s may be processed per customer or business per day. Visiting multiple offices is treated as one day.
  • A company that is in the business of submitting IDP/IADP’s for other customers must also adhere to the following:
    • Company employee must appear in person. No mailed-in applications will be processed.
    • All applications must be filled out completely.
    • A valid copy of their US Driver’s License must be included.
    • Original photo’s must be supplied; no scanned photo’s accepted.
    • If business demands warrant, IDP/IADP’s may be processed off-hours with pick up on the next business day.
    • Payments: CASH ONLY No Debit/Credit Cards/Checks/Money Orders accepted.
