Day 1 - ARRIVE BILLINGS
Welcome to cowboy country! Get acquainted with your surroundings and relax. At 6 p.m., say howdy to your Travel Director and the rest of your posse at the hotel and join a Kick-off Party for your adventure.(Kick Off Party) Accomodation: Crowne Plaza Billings (First Class)
Day 2 - BILLINGS - CODY
Git goin' and follow in the tracks of Lewis and Clark, the West's greatest explorers, with a visit to the Pompey's Pillar National Monument. Named for the son of Sacagawea, Clark's native guide, this 45 metres (150 feet) butte was inscribed with Clark's name—the only piece of physical evidence of the explorers' famed expedition back in 1806. Circle back to Cody, home to the legendary Buffalo Bill Cody, known 'round the world for his stupendous travelling Wild West Show. Visit the top-notch Buffalo Bill Historical Centre, showcasing not only the life of the great showman, but presenting great exhibits on how the Plains Indians lived and an amazing collection of firearms. Keep your Wild West spirit kickin' with a buffet dinner at Buffalo Bill's Old Irma Hotel—actually owned by Buffalo Bill and named for his daughter. There's more fun to be had tonight when you step out for the Cody Night Rodeo (through Aug.) or to a foot-stompin' cowboy music review (in Sept.).(Full Breakfast / Dinner) Accomodation: The Cody (First Class)
Day 3 - CODY - YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
Leave the Big Horn Basin for another big day—you're off to Yellowstone, America's first National Park. Look out for herds of bison and grazing elk and listen for the roar of Yellowstone Falls. Stroll the boardwalks and watch for spouting geysers and steaming vents, peer into the turquoise hot springs, and listen to the gurgling boiling mudpots. Keep an eye on your watch for the next nearly-hourly appearance of Old Faithful, shooting up to 40 metres (180 feet) high! Kids, don't miss signing up for the Yellowstone Junior Ranger Program, where you'll learn all about the park's amazing wildlife and its geothermal energy.(Full Breakfast / Dinner) Accomodation: National Park Lodges (National Park Lodges)
Day 4 - YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - 320 GUEST RANCH (2 NIGHTS)
Can you tell how to find a bear or what it's just been eating? Take a walk with a Local Expert and find out all kinds of cool insights about Yellowstone's wildlife. Keep on the lookout for moose, elk and black bears as you leave the park today, but if you haven't spotted the elusive grizzly bear or a wolf yet, don't worry; you'll see them at your next stop, The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Centre in West Yellowstone. Head on out into Montana's Big Sky Country and settle in for big fun over the next couple of days at an 1898 homestead-turned guest ranch. Take a wagon ride out to the river for a rib-stickin' Chuckwagon Highlight Dinner.(Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner) Accomodation: 320 Guest Ranch (Moderate First Class)
Day 5 - 320 GUEST RANCH FREE TIME
No sleepin' in today when there are so many fun choices: join a white-water rafting trip or gentle float trip down the Gallatin river; or saddle up and ride with a real-life horse wrangler in the Montana wilderness! Then, after a picnic lunch, the whole rest of the day is up to you. Maybe take a hike along one of the many nature trails at the ranch, learn fly casting at the fish pond, do some fly-fishing right on the river, or perhaps skedaddle out to the ski resort town of Big Sky.(Full Breakfast / Lunch)
Day 6 - 320 GUEST RANCH - HELENA
Head out of the hills and travel through the Valley of the Flowers where the great Native tribes once roamed—as well as the ancient dinosaurs! At The Museum of the Rockies, you'll be amazed at the gigantic Tyrannosaurus rex skull—it's the world's largest! Get back on the trail of Lewis and Clark, stopping at Missouri Headwaters State Park to see the source of the Missouri River. Then, board a boat to cruise through the towering limestone cliffs of the Gates of the Mountains. Look straight up to spot the Bighorn sheep scrambling up the rocks. Kick back on your own on Last Chance Gulch—main street Helena, the friendly former gold-mining town.(Full Breakfast) Accomodation: Holiday Inn Helena (First Class)
Day 7 - HELENA - WHITEFISH (2 NIGHTS)
When first hearing about smokejumpers—parachuters that drop out of the sky to fight fires in America's remote forests and prairies—you might think they're just made up characters for the movies. But their daring jobs are for real as you'll see during your visit to the country's largest smokejumper base and Visitor Centre in Missoula. Get the inside scoop on what it takes for this demanding occupation, including a visit to the Smokejumper Loft and ready room (seasonal). In Pablo, listen to the wisdom of a tribal elder, a Local Expert, and learn about the life of Salish, Pend d'Oreille and Kootenai tribes with a guided tour of The People's Center. Arrive in the old railroad town of Whitefish.(Full Breakfast) Accomodation: Grouse Mountain Lodge (Superior First Class)
Day 8 - GLACIER NATIONAL PARK SIGHTSEEING
Only 25 glaciers remain in spectacular Glacier National Park, still slowly melting since the last Ice Age and the most fun way to see the amazing lakes and waterfalls left behind is by hopping aboard one of the park's original renovated red buses. As you “jam” up the Going-to-the-Sun Road, look out for giant white mountain goats and the Continental Divide. Head back to Whitefish to browse its main street shops for that perfect cowboy souvenir; then round up your compadres for a pizza dinner.(Full Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 9 - WHITEFISH - SPOKANE
Bid 'so long' to Montana as you travel through Flathead country into Idaho. Stretch your legs and explore the resort town at the great lake of Coeur d'Alene, once a French and Native American trade centre. Cross the border into Washington State. Round up your gang for a special tour and Farewell Dinner at the Steam Plant Grill, a historic steam plant converted to a restaurant. Check out the original boilers and catwalks—you can even get inside the 68 metres tall (225 feet tall) smokestack!(Full Breakfast / Farewell Dinner) Accomodation: The Davenport Hotel and Tower (Deluxe)
Day 10 - DEPART SPOKANE
Wish your partners 'Happy Trails' as your great Western round-up ends with a transfer to Spokane Airport.(Full Breakfast)
