Day 1 - BOSTON, THE CRADLE OF LIBERTY
Welcome to Boston! Upon arrival at Logan International Airport, transfer to one of Boston’s finest hotels. Early evening, gather with your Tour Director for a Welcome Reception, drinks and light informal meal. The next morning, your Tour Director provides a fascinating insight into “Beantown” during a historical sightseeing tour. At several stops along Boston’s famed Freedom Trail, hear about the struggle and courage of the American colonists during revolutionary times. Then view the colourful neighborhoods of Back Bay and Bunker Hill, site of the noted revolutionary battle. The afternoon is free to pursue your own interests. Perhaps take a stroll through Boston Common or browse the shops and restaurants at historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Day 3 - NEWPORT, THE QUEEN OF SUMMER RESORTS
Leave Boston and travel back in time to 1627, just seven years after the arrival of Mayflower. Visit Plimoth Plantation which mirrors the small farming community built by the Pilgrim Fathers along the shore of Plymouth Harbor. Then experience maritime life aboard the Mayflower II, a full-scale reproduction of the Pilgrims’ ship. Continue your exploration of New England with a stop at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. On a guided tour of the exhibits, see the material that inspired Herman Melville to pen his classic work, Moby Dick. Now on to Rhode Island and your luxurious award-winning hotel, full of New England warmth and charm, situated atop Newport’s Historic Hill neighbourhood. After a good night’s rest, travel along Ocean Drive, lined with the Gilded Age mansions of America’s wealthiest families. Visit The Breakers, the grandest of Newport’s summer ‘cottages’ and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family’s social and financial preeminence during the late 19th century. Newport was home to the America’s Cup for more than 50 years and is widely known as the Sailing Capital of the World! Embark on a nautical discovery aboard an 80-foot schooner for a scenic cruise around the coastline, seeing the harbor and famous landmarks. Day 5 - MARTHA'S VINEYARD AND NANTUCKET - A PRESIDENTIAL PARADISE
Journey down the coast to Martha’s Vineyard, the quaint island tucked against the New England coast, home to pristine sandy beaches, diverse outdoor attractions and historical and cultural draws. No stranger to presidential visits, the island has hosted Ulysses S. Grant, Bill Clinton and the Obamas, while the former U.S. first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis maintained a home here until her death. Arrive on the island by ferry and make your way to Oak Bluffs, which is known for its rainbow-coloured gingerbread cottages with storybook decorations, high-peaked roofs and dainty verandas. Get acquainted with the island on a tour, before reaching your prestigious hotel overlooking Edgartown’s beautiful harbour, lighthouse and Chappaquiddick Island. The next day enjoy a short, sightseeing tour, reap the beauty of the charming cobblestone streets, simple Quaker-style homes and handsome houses dating back to the whaling days. Day 7 - A PEACEFUL CAPE COD ESCAPE
Return to the mainland today and continue to the picturesque village of Sandwich, oldest town on the Cape, known for its distinctive glassware. At the Glass Museum, witness the extensive collection of glass artifacts, interactive displays and glass blowing demonstration. Then visit Heritage Museums Gardens where in one beautiful location you’ll find sweeping lawns, beautiful gardens, a windmill, art gallery, museum of Americana and an amazing collection of antique cars. Now on to the cottage-lined streets of North Falmouth and your newly renovated beach side hotel. Step outside to feel the sun on your face and the sand between your toes. Be lulled to sleep tonight by the rise and fall of the tide. The morning’s excursion takes you to the Cape Cod National Seashore at the far end of the cape. Visit Chatham, the quintessential seaside town, before moving on to Hyannis. Explore the region’s long association with the Kennedy family at the John F. Kennedy Museum. Day 9 - A BERRY NICE JOURNEY BACK TO BOSTON
As one of the few fruits native to North America, it is said that the cranberry is more American than apple pie! After breakfast, visit a local cranberry bog to learn about the cultivation and harvesting of one of Massachusetts’ most important crops. Return to Boston where there are complimentary transfers to Logan International Airport or the Boston tour hotel for guests wishing to extend their stay.
