AAA Statement Regarding Swine Flu/Mexico Travel
BUFFALO, N.Y. – April 28, 2009 - AAA is continuously monitoring reports from government agencies and the news media to assess the severity of the swine flu outbreak and the risk it may pose for travelers. Travelers like all other Americans should heed the health advisories and precautions being issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and others to help prevent the spread of the virus.
The CDC is advising American citizens to avoid nonessential travel to Mexico. AAA believes travelers should gather all of the known facts about the flu outbreak and then make an informed decision about any travel plans they have. Some airlines and travel suppliers have issued flexible policies. AAA is working with members and travelers in need of more information or assistance.
