A handy guide for over-packers
Let’s face it over-packers, when we go on vacation we are sorely tempted to bring everything in our closets along for the ride. After all, there is a remote chance we will get invited to a gala while in Rome and need that formal gown or tux we purchased on sale and have never worn!
In reality, it’s highly unlikely you’ll need your best clothes while on vacation. With added fees from airlines, the hassle of baggage claim and the many TSA regulations, being able to carry-on luggage is a must and will make your life a heck of a lot easier. Not to mention that you won't hear frequent fliers snicker as you pass by, lugging the most enormous bag known to man, filled with everything but the kitchen sink!

You may have heard in the news over the past couple of days that air traffic controller furloughs have begun and are causing many delays at airports across the nation. The airports that are expected to be most directly impacted are the largest such as Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, Newark, JFK, LaGuardia and Los Angeles. But delays at these airports can have ripple effects on others across the country, leading to additional delays at medium-sized and smaller airports as well.

Travel is a great way to get out into the environment and appreciate what the earth has so generously given us – from the awe-inspiring nature of Glacier National Park to the historical and architectural beauty in Venice, Italy, our wanderlust sends us traveling more now than ever before.
Although today’s the official day that we consider the cost of our activities on the environment, there are some things we can do every day to scratch our itch for travel while still being gentle on the earth.

For the first time in 10 years Syracuse University is going to the NCAA Final Four! The game, against the University of Michigan on Saturday, April 6th, is at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Even the casual SU fan remembers the end result of the NCAA Tournament the last time SU appeared in the Final Four in 2003 (I won’t say it for fear of causing some kind of jinx).

Now is a good time to bring in your car for a simple professional checkup. Your technician will look for any automotive issues that may have developed after so many months of banging potholes and collecting salt.
Other small routine maintenance items—a spring tune-up, a tire change or rotation, or a battery check—can help your car perform more efficiently and get better gas mileage.

A fee for Wi-Fi. A fee for your room safe. A charge to check in early. Hotels are besieging their guests with fees and surcharges that garnered a record estimated $1.95 billion in 2012, according to the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management at New York University.
Some fees, such as for Wi-Fi, typically are voluntary. Particularly onerous, however, are “resort fees,” which are mandatory. Ostensibly, these fees - which can range from $8.50 to $60 per night - cover such things as fitness center use, newspapers, and, our favorite oxymoronic amenity, the “free” coffee in your room. But guests don’t always learn of theses extra charges until check-in. Now there’s hope.

When a warning light illuminates on a car’s dashboard, it is alerting you to a situation that requires your attention. And, while not all warning lights are a sign that disaster is imminent, no warning indicator should ever be ignored.
That’s the word from the experts at AAA, who encourage motorists to read their owner’s manual and know what each of the warning lights in their vehicle means.
