A mom’s discount story: Glasses for my little girl

As a mother, one of the things you dread hearing is that your child needs glasses. Thoughts of name-calling and teasing immediately come to mind, so when my 7-year-old daughter started squinting, I was more than a little apprehensive.

I decided she should have an eye exam just in case. My husband wanted her to go to Lenscrafters, because he has always had a good service and quick turnaround there. (And, the fact that they offer a discount for AAA members didn’t hurt, either.) I have to say, Lenscrafters gave us one of the best service experiences I have had in a long time.

The doctor catered to kids, and he made the whole experience – one that could have been a frightening for a little girl – comfortable and fun. After the exam, the staff helped her pick out some neat frames that she and I both love! When we returned less than an hour later, a technician fitted them to her, and we were ready to go. With my AAA card, the entire cost was less than $90.

As much as I was pleased with the level of service, caring and savings we received, the real reward came as we drove home. My daughter started reading all the road signs she could now see. That's when everything else came into focus.

How have you used your AAA membership to save money? Tell us about it in the comments below.
