Job Summary

    AAA is getting ready to develop a deeper relationship with our affiliated repair facilities.

    We’re looking for someone who has a managerial background in the auto repair industry and who understands what it takes to develop and maintain a profitable business. In this position you will serve as a business advisor to our affiliated shops helping to develop and to implement initiatives that will increase their repeat rate and bottom line. You will be acting as a mentor sharing Best Practices and ensuring success.

  • The Automotive Services Repair Business Advisor is responsible for the Approved Auto Repair Program along with analysis, development and successful deployment of other Repair Programs in support of Club and department objectives.
  • The incumbent participates in the strategic planning for the long-term success of the Repair Program business line; collaborates with senior level management and technical resources to ensure strategy, planning and delivery approach will achieve the desired end results.
  • Assists the owner in maximizing sustainability and profitability of operations by focusing on and helps maximize automotive KPIs such as gross profit margins, average repair order, sales metrics productivity, car count, effective labor rate and marketing.
  • Develop, maintain and manage mutually beneficial business relationships with new and existing vendors of repair products. Ensure that vendors deliver products and services in the manner required for optimal program performance including, but not limited to, product quality and/or delivery issues.
  • Identifies and assist with implementation of programs and training to render a high level of service quality.
  • Conducts inspections of repair facilities to be potentially selected as part of the AAR program. Visits contracted facilities regularly, involving road trips and occasional overnight travel.
  • Makes formal and complete investigation of applicants.
  • Presents all investigation file documentation to the AAR Review Committee, along with observations and recommendations.
  • Offer assistance with marketing and business growth opportunities. Logically gather and analyze information related to financial, business, and product or program performance. Plan for and develop strategic budgetary and operational assistance for repair facilities.
  • Responsible for managing cost, schedule, and technical performance requirements of program teams through all phases from inception to completion (e.g., proposal review, planning, scheduling, installation, system acceptance, etc.).
  • In conjunction with the Automotive Services and Car Care Marketing Management, develop marketing and promotional strategies and monitors their implementation.
  • Ensure that management is provided with analysis sufficient to provide direction and counseling to contract facility personnel and members regarding policies and procedures pertaining to the repair programs/products.
  • Work with Automotive Services, Training and Development and Car Care Management to ensure training curriculum for front-line staff to support initiatives.
  • Work with Club management on automotive related initiatives including data gathering and analysis related to auto repair initiatives.
  • Communicate with AAA Members, affiliate AAA Clubs and Approved Auto Repair Facilities regarding repair related questions, complaints or issues, as needed.
  • Develop annual budgets for repair programs and on a continuous basis, analyze financial results and technical reports; interpret and evaluate staff reports; observe performance and provide feedback to management; problem solve division related issues; remembers various rules; knows laws, regulations and codes relating to Automotive Repair; explain and interpret policy.
  • Contribute to the strategy and content development for seminars and coordinate public relations events to heighten awareness and improve public perception of the AAA repair options.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in business administration, project and product management or a related field or equivalent, and eight years’ work experience with six years in a management capacity.
  • Six years of product development or program management experience, preferably in the automotive industry. Experience managing products and vendor relationships required.
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently and proactively research and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments subject to company practices and managerial direction with latitude for independent action and initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills along with excellent communication skills, oral, written and presentation, to interact with all levels of company personnel, members, vendors and affiliate Clubs.
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, planning and presentation skills; ability to present recommendations to executive management and other business lines; implement strategies to improve business results.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and business line technologies.
